Who is TAS America?
Question: Who introduced the first pneumatic automatic carousel garment press to the North-American apparel-printing market?

Question: Who originally developed the lifting-platen (rather than descending-screen) technology that is now standard on all major press makes?

Question: Who put independent operator controls on each of its press heads years before the concept was adopted by other press manufacturers?

Question: Who recently made an unprecedented commitment to industrial standards of excellence by becoming the first screen-printer equipment maker to withstand the rigors of ISO 9002 certification?

We are the leaders in the industry
If you answered TAS International to all these questions, you're absolutely correct. Ironically, not many in the apparel-graphics industry would know to do so.

Why? "TAS International and TAS America have always been quiet achievers:" says Mike Walker, President. "Our philosophy has been one of concentrating on design and engineering--along with servicing our customers--rather than on marketing."

This philosophy explains why, unlike so many of its competitors in the equipment field, TAS has chosen to concentrate on one thing-automatic textile presses of up to 16-color capacity--rather than diluting its engineering and design expertise by expanding into such areas as dryers, exposure units, ink mixers, external flash units and the like.

"We've thought it better to leave those technologies to companies that specialize in them:" explains Walker, "and who seem perfectly willing to leave our specialty to us. It's simply that our approach has always been to make the best automatic press that can be made. Why confuse the issue by taking on technologies that are already well served by others?"

The company's philosophy also explains why over 75 percent of its sales have historically been to repeat customers. Clearly, this kind of customer satisfaction speaks louder than any marketing campaign.

Still, the quiet company that makes our industry's finest printing equipment has started making a little noise as well. For starters, TAS International has voluntarily opened itself up to independent evaluation of how it carries out its business through the demanding process of ISO 9002 certification, The ISO 9002 program, supervised by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance, involves an independent team of industrial-manufacturing experts who work within a subject company--in this case, TAS International - to develop high standards of quality control, then pay routine visits to that company to ensure that the standards continue to be met. If they are, the certification stands. If not....
'We have, in effect, laid it all on the line with this commitment, by voluntarily and publicly establishing higher standards, then pledging to live up to them. The result is guaranteed printer confidence that every procedure carried out by TAS International is independently audited, evaluated and recorded--from the purchase of raw materials, to the manufacture of both presses and spare parts, even on to packaging, delivery, installation and service--all rigidly maintained at this industry's highest level of quality control."

TAS International and TAS America also adheres to carefully developed procedures for taking orders, dealing with complaints, expediting service, shipping out spare parts, even answering the telephone--in other words, all the aspects of a business that are so important to supporting customer needs. This exercise has required a special commitment from both the staff at TAS International and TAS America but, as the rewards of their labors are shown by customer satisfaction and commendation, it's a commitment they are only too happy to make.

Brief Company Background......

TAS commenced in 1968 as an engineering design and development consulting service, engaged in tooling and special purpose machine design, and moved into manufacture of screen printing machinery in 1974.

From that time, TAS has been recognized as the industry’s major “innovator” in screen printing equipment solutions, and significant milestones include the following:

 1975 - Introduction of a 4 color manual rotary carousel machine, the major “innovations” of which were not incorporated by other competitors until... 20 years later.

 1977/81 - TAS developed special purpose machines that enabled screen printing on tapered containers, styrene boxes, metal tubes, light fittings, and spun metal products. This was unheard of at the time.

 1982 - TAS developed the first pallet lifting carousel machine, which today is used by all US manufactured automatic carousel machines. This concept revolutionized the industry by offering a smart cost effective method of construction, allowing high registration, accuracy and repeatability.

 1985 - TAS began exporting to the US and still exports 60% of TAS Screen Printing Machines to the US, and the percentage is
climbing rapidly. TAS also exports around the globe and has Accredited Resellers and Service Agents in all major countries including Sweden, Germany, South Africa, England, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and New Zealand. In the United States, TAS operates as itself with headquarters based in California.

 1985/97 - The “innovations” during this period are too many to list in this brief background, however TAS “stunned” the industry when in 1997 it became the first manufacturer to provide a 4 year or 4,000,000 print stroke guarantee (and today, it is still the only manufacturer to do so.)

 1998 - TAS introduced the industry’s first 16 color automatic screen printing machine with smart electric heads featuring digital squeegee speed display for quick set ups.

 2001 - TAS introduced a medium priced press which quickly gained customer approval during the Long Beach Impressions Show. Named the "ROC" the press is available in 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 colors and 16" x 18" print area

 2003 - TAS moved to new 17,000 square foot facility in Valencia, CA. Our showroom displays a working press, graphic tester, roll-to-roll foiling, flocking and pin registration can be demonstrated. During SGIA our fourteen color press was busy printing on black shirts the underbase, flashing, printing five colors, flashing printing adheasive and flocking three colors.

 2004 - TAS introduced multiple color foiling using roll-to-roll technology while printing five colors flashing and two colors of flock! Mid year TAS introduced the Hawk series textile press complete with electric heads, electric indexing - built for both the first time automatic buyers through multiple press shops  with many of the standard TAS features like - end loading screens, side clamping, four corner screen leveling, single, double or triple print stroke, cast and milled pallets, adjustable start / stop print stroke length and micro registration. The "ROC" is ISO Certified and has many of the TAS options - air clamping, youth, sleeve pallets, central off contact and pin registration system. (please see the Hawk series tab on the left).
